quiet week in the office?

Its very quiet in the office today, Jeremy, Chris and Alex are on their way over to America to visit our friends from Vineyard Music USA while Nathan (having recovered from the Ben Nevis challenge) is with another friend Dan Wilt.

Dan is here in the UK leading an Institute Of Contemporary & Emerging Worship Studies intensive course for a small group of worship leaders from around the UK at the beautiful Westwood retreat centre high on a hill above Slaithwaite. Then at the weekend will be leading the What is Worship? Event at the Corn Exchange, Bury St Edmunds.

That leaves Paul and myself to hold the fort today.

At least it was quite until this arrived outside...

Ben Nevis challenge report

I can confirm that Chris and I have returned to Hull safe and sound - albeit with a few aches, but thankfully no bad pains or blisters.

The Ben Nevis Cross Rhythms challenge has been met indeed.
The weekend started with an easy drive up to Fort William aside from yet another traffic jam in Glasgow. We got to enjoy the drive up to and through Glen Coe in a sublime sunset - Chris and I both agreed that it was a wonderfully romantic setting but for the company... which was Chris and I!

Sadly the glorious weather of Friday turned to rain and howling winds for the Ben Neves climb (but we wouldn't want it to be easy anyway). Our party of 23, made up of Cross Rhythms staff and supporters, set off early-ish on Saturday to make it to the top to do a live broadcast.
From about half way up the visibility dropped to about 10-15 metres as we were enveloped in cloud and high speed winds.
All to say we made it to the top, where some reports hinted at 75mph winds - I'm not quite sure it was that high, but it was freezing - and then back down.

It was great to be able to connect everyone on the trip and support Cross Rhythms in their ministry as they have supported ours over the years. We hope and pray that this day was a significant and successfull one for them and their ministry.

New Website

The new VRUK website is here!

Take a look around - we are still adding a few pieces here and there but it's mostly there.

So whats new?

Well we have added loads of information about who we are and why we do things the way we do. Most of that is in the Our Ministry section. Our new Great Big God website has finally arrived and you can download a guide on how to run a kids praise party plus there are dance action videos to loads of the Great Big God songs, and the resources section gives some advice on leading worship and songwriting. We hope you like it!

It would be great to get your feedback on the new site drop me a line at dave(at)vineyardrecords.co.uk

The eve before the eve of the Ben Nevis challenge

Having been raised in relatively rural surroundings, I have always been prepared for the elements (see photo on left). Tonight I shall pack my walking trousers, boots and socks for tomorrow I (Nathan) shall travel with Chris Whitelock up to Fort William. There's we shall meet with more intrepid explorers who shall be ascending Ben Nevis on Saturday.

This is to help raise funding for Cross Rhythms new radio stations around the UK. For more details see their website here. This is a truly daring feat, but not as insane as my attempts to find somewhere in Scotland to catch the England vs South Africa match on tomorrow night (surely they must allow me some freedom too).

Chris and I were thrilled today to see that the weather forecast for the Fort William area has been changed from sunny and fresh, to dark clouds and heavy rain as we will both get the joys of road testing our new water proof clothing.

In all seriousness though, we are delighted to be involved in this chance to help support another UK ministry. Check back next week for the news on how it all went and, I am sure, many an anacdote too.
Now where did I leave that Runrig CD..............
